I-10 crash: Big rig driver killed; westbound lanes shut
A big rig driver was killed in a fiery crash on the westbound 10 Freeway in Fontana Monday morning.

FONTANA, Calif. (KABC) -- A big rig driver was killed in a fiery crash on the westbound 10 Freeway in Fontana Monday morning.

Investigators said the big rig hit a freeway sign for the Citrus Avenue exit, causing it to crash and burst into flames around 3 a.m. The driver of the big rig was pronounced dead at the scene.

San Bernardino County fire officials say a light standard fell on the freeway, causing another accident involving several vehicles. No injuries were reported in that crash.

It's unknown where the big rig was coming from or where it was heading, but fire officials say it was carrying a load of frozen chickens.

All westbound lanes were initially closed after the crash, but all lanes were reopen by 12:30 p.m. The off-ramp remained closed. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
