18,860 lbs of hummus and dip recalled for health risk

About 14,860 pounds of hummus and dip products sold at retailers, such as Target and Trader Joe's, were recalled Thursday over concerns that it may cause food poisoning.

The Texas Department of Health discovered the contamination during a routine test of Target Archer Farms Traditional Hummus.

Although no illness has been reported, listeria monocytogenes may cause fever, muscle aches and gastrointestinal issues. It is especially serious for young children, frail or elderly people and pregnant women.

Retailers and distributed have been told to remove all product affected by the contamination.
