If you're looking for something fun this weekend in Los Angeles, head out to the California Hot Sauce Expo, which promises to be the spiciest party west of the Mississippi.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- If you're looking for something fun this weekend then head out to the California Hot Sauce Expo, which promises to be the spiciest party west of the Mississippi.

Founders Steve Seabury, of High River Sauces, and Ed Currie, the creator of the world's hottest pepper, stopped by the Eyewitness News room to dish about the event.

This is the third year for the expo and there will be 40 hot sauce companies featuring their sauces.

Seabury said there will be an attempt to break the world record for how many Carolina Reaper peppers can be eaten in 60 seconds. The current record is about 20 peppers in one minute.

Seabury said he and Currie are passionate about hot sauces and they started the expo in New York. They now do five expositions around the county to showcase spicy concoctions.

Currie said he created the Reaper by cross breeding two peppers to create the hot item.

The expo will also feature vendors, wrestling, a Chihuahua beauty pageant and cocktails. The expo will be held on Saturday and Sunday at the City National Grove in Anaheim.
