Man struck by hit-and-run driver while fleeing Fullerton police on foot

FULLERTON, Calif. (KABC) -- A man was struck by a hit-and-run driver while fleeing from a Fullerton police officer on foot Monday night, authorities said.

A Fullerton police officer stopped the man, who was riding a bicycle, in the 400 block of W. Orangethorpe Avenue around 10 p.m. regarding an equipment violation. As the officer began talking to the man, the man fled the scene on foot, leaving his bicycle at the scene.

The man was transported to a local trauma center in critical condition. Police described the hit-and-run driver's vehicle as a dark-colored sedan.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on this case was asked to contact Officer Hazel Rios of the Fullerton Police Department at (714) 738-6812.
