FULLERTON, Calif. (KABC) -- A 15-year-old girl has been arrested in connection with alleged threats of violence made toward Troy High School in Fullerton, police said.

Fullerton police say the investigation began when they were alerted Wednesday night to a person making a threat of violence against the school during a group chat among students on Instagram Live.

Police did not disclose the exact wording of the threat, but said it indicated the violence would take place Thursday.

School police investigated and said there was no evidence to indicate the threats were to be considered credible.

However, they said Thursday a 15-year-old female was in custody for criminal threats and obstructing, delaying an investigation.

A larger police presence was seen on campus Thursday.

Police praised the student who came forward to alert them to the threat as "courageous" and reminded the public to "if you see something, say something."

Anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact Fullerton Police School Resource Officer A. Coyle at (714)738-3156. Anonymous information can be provided to Orange County Crime Stoppers at (855)TIP-OCCS or online here.

The arrest came on the one-year anniversary of two students at the same school being arrested after they were allegedly overheard plotting a school shooting "bigger than Columbine."
