Residents are keeping a close eye on the skies and hoping the rain comes down slow and steady rather than sudden downpours, which could trigger dangerous debris flows.

Even though they know the nearby hillsides are prone to mudslides, residents are welcoming the rain.

"We're just going to enjoy it and welcome it, actually. We need it. We're fine. We're prepared," said Glendora resident Diana Corral.

The city of Glendora has been very proactive to prevent such debris flows from crashing into homes by positioning strategic K-rails to divert any mud that could come rolling down the fire-stripped hillsides.

"They've been working hard all through last year and into this year, so they've got a lot of protection out there," said Jim Brittingham, another Glendora resident.

Free sandbags are available for residents at 440 South Loraine Ave.
