Rheann Franklin, 6, Ainsley Peters, 5, and Rylie Hughey, 3, are girls who were suffering from different types of cancer. They didn't know each other personally until photographer Lora Scantling gathered them for a photo shoot this past April.

Scantling's stepfather was battling lung cancer at the time, and wanted to do something that had an impact. She reached out on Facebook to see if anyone knew children who were battling cancer. Rheann, Ainsley, and Rylie's parents responded, and the girls' resulting photo touched the hearts of millions across the globe.

The photo raised awareness of the struggle that many children and adults face when diagnosed with cancer. But Scantling did another photo shoot this past Saturday in Bethany, Oklahoma after learning that the girls were now in remission. The image below shows Rheann, Ainsley, and Rylie recreating the same pose as their first photo, but just from their expressions, you can see their hope for a brighter, cancer-free tomorrow.

Check out the gallery above for the images from both of the photo shoots. Learn more about photographer Lora Scantling and each of the girls below.
