1 killed, 2 injured in Highland shooting

HIGHLAND, Calif. (KABC) -- Two people were injured and one other was killed in a shooting in Highland Saturday night, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said.

Authorities responded to a call of shots fired in the area of 6th Street and Central Avenue around 8:30 p.m.

When deputies arrived, three victims were found with gunshot wounds in the 7900 block of Midhurst Drive. Two of them were transported to a nearby hospital, and one male victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspects fled the scene and remained at large.

Officials asked the public to avoid the area as the investigation continued, but was deemed safe at about 9:30 p.m.
