A 55-year-old man turned himself in for his involvement in a hit-and-run crash in Glendale that killed a 4-year-old girl.

GLENDALE, Calif. (KABC) -- Glendale police have arrested a 55-year-old man in connection to a hit-and-run crash in Glendale that killed a 4-year-old girl.

Arriving with family, Shant Badleean, of Glendale, surrendered to police Saturday. His bail was set at $50,000.

Meanwhile, friends and family held a prayer and heartbroken tribute to remember 4-year-old Violeta Khachaturyan.

Investigators said the young girl and her parents were on the front lawn of their home off Wilson Avenue and Olive Street, when she suddenly ran between two parked cars into traffic late Friday. A light-colored sedan struck her and fled the scene.

Khachaturyan was flung almost 50 feet into the back window of a parked car. She was taken to a hospital, where she died.

"It was kind of relief for us to hold the memorial and hold that moment of silence at ease knowing that finally we have seen justice served," family friend Arshak Bareghamyan said.

The Glendale Police Officers Association is accepting donations to assist the family. Checks can be made out to: GPOA Cops for Kids.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Glendale Police Department at (818) 548-4911.
