HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A man was shot and killed during an apparent robbery in Hollywood early Monday morning, police said.

The shooting happened just after midnight on North Cahuenga Boulevard and Selma Avenue. Police say the suspects approached the victim, demanded money and shot him numerous times. The suspects were seen smashing car windows right before the robbery.

Workers at the 3Dog Cantina, a nearby bar, said they heard what sounded like loud banging on the restaurant windows.

"We go to check it out and we see a guy with a gun. He shoots three more times into this guy and the guy just drops," said witness Taylor Dawson.

The victim, believed to be a possible transient in his 50s or 60s, was taken to a hospital where he later died.

An off-duty officer saw the shooting and chased the suspects down. Other officers arrived and took the suspects into custody.

They were later identified as 22-year-old Troy T. McVey and 21-year-old Colby R. Kronholm. Both suspects were booked for murder and are being held on $1 million bail. They are due in court on Wednesday.
