HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- Huntington Beach residents will be able to choose plastic bags again during their grocery run next month, after the city council voted to repeal the plastic bag ban.

The city council voted 6-1 Monday night to repeal the two-year-old ban. Huntington Beach Mayor Jill Hardy was the lone no vote.

Shoppers will also no longer have to pay 10 cents for paper bags.

The change is set to go into effect next month, but may not last for long if California voters approve a statewide ban on plastic bags in the November 2016 election.
