Bicyclist killed by suspected DUI driver in Lake Elsinore

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. (KABC) -- A 75-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence Friday after she struck and killed a bicyclist in Lake Elsinore.

Thelma Trachy was driving near Railroad Canyon and Summerhill drives when she struck a 21-year-old bicyclist from behind shortly before 9 p.m.

Responding officers found the unidentified victim on the ground.

He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday. His identity is being withheld pending notification of kin.

Trachy, who remained at the scene, was arrested and transported to the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta.
