Long Beach firefighters responded to the single-engine plane crash shortly after 9 p.m.

One person who was driving near the airport was hit by debris, but was not transported to a local hospital.
Motorists were advised to avoid southbound Lakewood Boulevard from Carson Street and northbound Lakewood Boulevard from Spring Street. The airport is still accessible via Wardlow Road, Long Beach police said.
