LA Council President Herb Wesson announces bid for county supervisor
LA Council President Herb Wesson says he is seeking to replace outgoing board member Mark Ridley-Thomas in 2020.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Los Angeles Council President Herb Wesson announced he is launching a bid for a seat on the County Board of Supervisors in 2020.

Wesson made the announcement at a fundraiser Monday.

He is looking to replace Mark Ridley-Thomas, who is vacating his seat due to term limits.

The district Wesson wants to lead stretches from Carson to Culver City and is home to two million people.
