LASD searching for missing bean bag shotgun
LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies were searching for a missing bean bag shotgun that was stored in the trunk of a patrol car.
Two Lost Hills sheriff's deputies originally placed the gun in a black canvas bag in the trunk of their car parked at the station in Agoura Hills at about 7:30 a.m. Saturday. They then drove to Hollywood to respond to a child abuse incident.
A passerby flagged the officers down at the 101 Freeway exit ramp and Sunset Boulevard, notifying them that their trunk was open. Upon inspection, officers found that only the bean bag shot gun was missing.
Sheriff's deputies and California Highway Patrol and Los Angeles Police Department officers conducted a search of the route, but did not find the gun.
The gun has a chrome barrel with yellow markings and is stamped with "Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department." It is loaded with four bean bag shells and can operate as a regular gun if loaded with shotgun shells.
