Man charged with attempted murder after LAPD officer shot in ambush-style attack
LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Police have arrested a man they say fired a semiautomatic gun at two Los Angeles police officers, striking and wounding one.
Ivan Castillo, 27, was charged with two counts of attempted murder of a peace officer and assault on a peace officer with a semiautomatic firearm. Castillo was also charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm.
Police said Castillo is believed to have opened fire on a pair of LAPD officers who were on patrol on Hartford Avenue in downtown Los Angeles.
A female officer, Joy Park, was struck in the leg. The other officer was uninjured, according to police.

The LAPD Headquarters Twitter account said Park came to the U.S. from Korea as a teenager and learned English as a second language.
After attending Cal State Los Angeles, she joined the academy in October 2016 and graduated April 2017.
She is expected to make a full recovery.
Castillo initially fled the scene but was later arrested, police said. Prosecutors have recommended bail be set at $4.03 million. Castillo's arraignment is set for Jan. 25.
