Authorities locate parents of 3-year-old girl found wandering Compton streets

COMPTON, Calif. (KABC) -- Authorities located the parents of a little girl who was found wandering the streets of Compton Saturday evening.

The parents and grandmother of the 3-year-old contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Compton Station around 10 a.m. Sunday.

According to preliminary information obtained during questioning of the family members, there was a miscommunication that led to the little girl becoming unsupervised.

A concerned citizen contacted Compton Station deputies around 6 p.m. The citizen said they found the little girl wandering the area of Willowbrook Avenue and Alondra Boulevard alone.

Patrol deputies conducted an extensive search of the area and contacted several residents with no results.

The little girl was taken to the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.

An investigation into the circumstances of the incident was ongoing. Her name and the names of her family members were not released.
