Suspect sought after trying to rape woman on Mission Viejo hiking trail

MISSION VIEJO, Calif. (KABC) -- Authorities are searching for a suspect who attempted to sexually assault a woman hiking along a trail in Mission Viejo Wednesday.

Orange County sheriff's deputies responded to reports of an attempted assault around 3:30 p.m. at the Oso Creek Trail near Marguerite Parkway and La Paz Road.

The woman told authorities she was walking the trail when a suspect grabbed her and pulled her to the ground. He then attempted to take her pants off.

The victim fought off the suspect and he fled the scene. He was described as a man around 50 years old with a husky build and a black, flat top haircut. He was wearing a white shirt, khaki pants and work boots.
