Motorcyclist leads police on San Fernando Valley chase
Police chased a man on a stolen motorcycle who fled at high speeds through the San Fernando Valley before finally surrendering in Pacoima.

PACOIMA, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Police chased a man on a stolen motorcycle who fled at high speeds through the San Fernando Valley before finally surrendering in Pacoima.

The chase began around 8 p.m. on Woodman Avenue in Van Nuys.

Los Angeles police officers began chasing the suspect on the stolen motorcycle.

He raced over surface streets in the San Fernando Valley and at times went off roads and onto sidewalks in an effort to evade the officers. At one point he crossed over the Los Angeles River on a narrow pedestrian walkway.

But officers and a police chopper were able to stay with him and the chase ended about 20 minutes later when the suspect pulled over in front of a gas station on Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Paxton Street in Pacoima.

No injuries to the suspect or officers were reported.
