GARDEN GROVE, Calif. (KABC) -- A dog was treated for injuries to its paws after being dragged by a truck in Garden Grove early Friday morning.

The Garden Grove Police Department received several calls reporting a dog being dragged from the back of a pickup truck around 1:30 a.m.

As officers were en route, more calls came in reporting the dog near the intersection of Brookhurst Street and Trask Avenue and that it was no longer being dragged. A citizen who found the dog said it was bleeding from its paws.

Authorities located the driver of the truck in Baldwin Park. He told authorities he had not realized his dog had fallen out of the truck bed.

Orange County Animal Control officers responded to the location where the dog was found and took it to an emergency clinic to be treated for its injuries.

The dog's condition was unknown.
