PALOS VERDES, Calif. (KABC) -- Police in Palos Verdes are looking for two people who allegedly tried to kidnap an 11-year-old boy as he walked home after school.

Authorities say the incident happened in the area of Coronel Plaza and Via Margarita around 3:30 p.m. Thursday. The boy told police a man driving a van pulled over and asked for directions to "the promenade."

As the victim looked at his cellphone to help, the suspect said he couldn't hear the boy and asked him to come closer to the van.

Moments later, the passenger side door opened, and a second suspect tried to pull him into the van.

The boy was able to break free and ran straight to his home.

The victim told police he remembers seeing that same van the day before.

The suspects' vehicle was described as a brown 80s Chevrolet full-sized van, with a light-colored horizontal stripe on both side of the van.

The first suspect was described as a white male adult, 40 to 50 years of age, medium build, dark brown "buzz cut" hair and tanned skin.

The boy did not get a good look at the second suspect.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department at (310) 378-4211.
