SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KABC) -- The victim of an alleged kidnapping in San Bernardino says the incident was just a misunderstanding.

San Bernardino police said around 5:35 p.m. Wednesday, they received reports of a possible kidnapping and carjacking taking place in a Stater Brother's Market parking lot in the 400 block of East Baseline Street.

Officers learned that Kimberly Barnes, 49, of San Bernardino, was involved in an argument over money with a man and a woman she knew. During the argument, Barnes was physically assaulted and her car keys were taken.

Barnes was then taken from the parking lot as a passenger in her own car, authorities said. Her car, a gold 1996 Lexus ES300 four-door sedan, was later found and the woman of interest was arrested.

On Thursday afternoon, Barnes walked into the police station and said it was a big misunderstanding.
