Man shot to death in Compton; 2 suspects sought

COMPTON, Calif. (KABC) -- A homicide investigation was underway surrounding the shooting death of a man in Compton Friday night.

Los Angeles County sheriff's homicide detectives responded to the 900 block of West 134th Place in the city around 8:44 p.m. Authorities received reports of shots fired in the area.

When detectives arrived, they found a man dead from a gunshot wound.

During the preliminary investigation, authorities learned the victim had been standing in front of the location when two men approached him and began a conversation. At one point one of the two men showed a handgun and then shot the victim in the upper torso.

The two suspects fled the scene, heading westbound from the location. No suspect information was available.

The investigation was ongoing.
