Man taken to hospital after El Monte officer-involved shooting

EL MONTE, Calif. (KABC) -- A man was taken to the hospital after El Monte police officers shot him on Tuesday.

El Monte police said the shooting happened at about 5:55 p.m. in the 10500 block of Garvey Avenue near Santa Anita Avenue.

The suspect was taken to the USC Medical Center, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

His condition was not available from officials.

El Monte officers were not injured in the shooting.

Homicide detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department are assisting El Monte police with their investigation.
