SAN JOSE, Calif. -- San Jose firefighters tweeted a terrifying image Friday afternoon of a metal beam that pierced the windshield of a car on southbound Interstate 280.

The driver of the black BMW escaped with only a scratch to his right elbow, according to firefighters.

The call came in around 12:40 p.m., according to authorities. The object sticking out of the windshield is a metal loading ramp that trucks use to load materials. Authorities believe it may have fallen off a truck traveling on the freeway.
