The Huntington Beach City Council has voted to impose a new plan on dealing with coyotes.

It includes the option of trapping and killing problem animals, but supporters say it will focus on educating people on how to keep them away.

The unanimous vote came weeks after the council heard from residents who complained about a jump in the number of coyote sightings.

Police say out of the 478 sightings of coyotes in Huntington Beach this year through November, 78 involved attacks.
