Man shot to death in Palmdale; suspect sought

PALMDALE, Calif. (KABC) -- A 23-year-old man was found shot to death in Palmdale Saturday night.

Authorities received reports of shots fired in 2400 block of East Avenue R-4 around 8:49 p.m.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department homicide detectives learned that the victim was walking down the street when he was shot by an unknown assailant. The man ran a short distance before collapsing on the sidewalk.

He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Witnesses in the neighborhood who were interviewed told detectives that they heard gunshots in the area.

There was no suspect information. The investigation is ongoing.
