19-year-old man wounded in South Los Angeles drive-by shooting

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A 19-year-old man was wounded in a drive-by shooting near a liquor store in South Los Angeles early Monday morning, police said.

The shooting was reported in the 9200 block of S. Broadway at about 12:30 a.m.

Sgt. James Linder said the victim was standing on the street when a vehicle drove by and someone inside shot him once in the abdomen. The victim was transported to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, where he underwent surgery.

A description of the suspect was not immediately available. Police were working to determine if the shooting was gang related.
