NORWALK, Calif. (KABC) -- A man was shot and killed at a 7-Eleven in Norwalk on Tuesday, according to officials.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department said it responded to the scene in the 10900 block of Alondra Boulevard near Studebaker Road at about 4:30 p.m.

Witnesses told deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department the victim was approached by people inside the 7-Eleven where a verbal altercation took place.

The victim ran out of the location and one of the suspects ran after him, shooting the victim as he fled, according to officials. The victim was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Deputies said the suspects, described as several Hispanic men in their late teens to early 20s, fled the scene. A suspect vehicle description was not provided.

The sheriff's department said the shooting appeared to be gang-related.

Deputies originally told ABC7 the incident appeared to have taken place at KFC, but later clarified that it happened in the 7-Eleven parking lot next door to the KFC.
