FULLERTON, Calif. (KABC) -- A suspect who took someone hostage inside a Fullerton garage surrendered without incident, releasing the victim unharmed, police said.

The surrender followed a two-hour standoff with SWAT officers after the suspect, believed to be armed, fled into the garage and took someone hostage in the 1400 block of Cameo Lane.

The situation is related to a 5 p.m. call for shots fired at Kraemer Memorial Park in Placentia, police said.

Police investigated that report and did not find any victims, but do believe someone was injured in a gang-related shooting.

Witnesses saw three men leaving the area in a black Toyota, police said.

Officers found the vehicle in Fullerton near Bradford Avenue and Yorba Linda Boulevard. Then a person in the area flagged down an officer and said someone was holding a male family member hostage at gun point in the garage.
