PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) -- Two young women survived a terrifying ordeal when an armed man allegedly tried to kidnap them in Pasadena.

Pasadena police say the women, both between 18 and 20 years old, agreed to get into a stranger's truck late Saturday after being offered a ride near the intersection of Fair Oaks Avenue and Montana Street.

However, the driver took off in the wrong direction and refused to let the women out.

That's when one of the women jumped from the moving pick-up while her kidnapper merged onto the 210 Freeway. Authorities said she broke her ankle during her escape.

The driver then held the second victim at gunpoint. She somehow managed to escape as well.

Police have not found the driver. If you have any information about this incident, you're urged to contact Pasadena police.
