16-year-old boy fatally shot in Long Beach, suspect sought

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- An investigation is underway after a 16-year-old boy was shot and killed in Long Beach.

The shooting occurred shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday in the 3300 block of East 65th Street.

Authorities said the victim, who was identified as Geron Lacey of Long Beach, was shot in the upper torso and died at the scene.

Homicide detectives believe Geron may have been involved in a physical altercation with the suspect or suspects, who left the location but came back a short time later to shoot the teen.

A description of the suspect or suspects was not immediately available.
