Investigation underway after infant allegedly drowns at Perris home

PERRIS, Calif. (KABC) -- Authorities investigated the circumstances surrounding the death of an infant in Perris Thursday morning.

Shortly before noon, Riverside County sheriff's deputies responded to a home in the 500 block of N. D Street on reports of a baby drowning.

Deputies quickly found the baby and performed CPR and first aid until paramedics arrived moments later. Paramedics continued CPR and then transported the infant to a nearby hospital. Medical personnel continued life-saving efforts, but the baby died.

An investigation into the child's death was launched and the family members, including the mother, were interviewed by investigators. No arrests have been made.
