MONTEBELLO, Calif. (KABC) -- Some residents were evacuated from a Montebello neighborhood early Wednesday morning due to an hours-long police standoff. The suspect was eventually taken into custody.

The incident started around 3:30 a.m. when the suspect, who was believed to be armed, barricaded himself in an apartment in the 200 block of South 7th Street.

Authorities said the man allegedly made threats against his family members. Further details regarding the nature of those threats were not immediately available.

About a dozen area residents were evacuated from their homes until the suspect was apprehended around 10:20 a.m.

No injuries were reported.
