SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KABC) -- A suspect wielding a machete tried to snatch a 2-year-old out of a stroller in San Bernardino Friday afternoon.

Authorities said around 4 p.m., a man approached a grandmother and grandfather who were walking their grandson in a stroller along with some other children and another woman near Sequoia Plaza Mobile Home Park.

The man stuck his hands into the stroller and grabbed the child, but the grandmother and other woman were also able to grab the child and keep him from being taken away.

The child's grandfather then chased after the man. The man stopped and pulled out a machete so the grandfather retreated.

Authorities said the suspect remained on the loose. No description of him was available.
