2 killed in car crashes on 605 Fwy in Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- Two people were killed and others injured in multiple separate car crashes on the northbound 605 Freeway in Lakewood early Saturday morning.

Authorities said the crashes happened shortly after 1 a.m. on the freeway, just south of Carson Street. It was unclear how many crashes occurred, but multiple vehicles were involved, according to witnesses.

The causes of the crashes were unknown. It was unclear how many people were injured.

The investigation was ongoing.
