SUV crashes into Hesperia house, misses elderly woman inside

HESPERIA, Calif. (KABC) -- A woman driving an SUV sped right through a fence and then into a house in Hesperia on Sunday.

The crash was reported at about 5:30 p.m. in the 15500 block of Smoketree Street.

The family says an elderly woman had been sitting in the car's path, but had gotten up just before the crash, escaping injury.

No one inside the home was hurt, but it was red-tagged by the city building inspector.

A female driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

There was no immediate word on what caused the crash or whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
