Rainstorm causes power outages in Los Angeles, Orange counties

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A large storm system that pounded Southern California with heavy rains caused power outages for many areas Friday.

Nearly 400 people were left without power in Santa Clarita, but Edison crews restored power for 111 of those people by 3:30 a.m.

More than 1,000 people were in the dark in Gardena until about 6 a.m., when crews restored power to most homes.

In Orange County, more than 2,700 residents in Fountain Valley were left without power until about 6 a.m., while more than 1,000 people were left without electricity in Santa Ana.

Crews were working to restore power to most of the affected areas.

The heavy rainstorm prompted flash flood warnings and wind advisories for many parts of the Southland Thursday and Friday.
