RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- A man and woman were killed Saturday afternoon after crashing into an SUV and being ejected from the motorcycle they were on in Riverside.

Authorities received calls of a motorcycle and car crash at Columbia Avenue and Kearney Street around 4:13 p.m. When officers arrived, they found the 54-year-old male motorcycle driver and his 58-year-old female passenger suffering from fatal injuries.

Witnesses told police a 61-year-old female Riverside resident was driving a black SUV westbound on Columbia Avenue. She had stopped to make a left turn onto Kearney Street. When traffic was clear, the woman began turning and at the same time, the motorcyclist and his passenger headed westbound on Columbia Avenue.

The motorcyclist crossed lanes and ended up crashing into the left front part of the SUV, witnesses said. The driver and passenger were ejected from the motorcycle, police said.

The investigation was ongoing.

Anyone with more information was asked to call the Riverside Police Department Detective Felix Soria at (951) 826-8720.
