MALIBU, Calif. (KABC) -- A Good Samaritan helped save two people and a dog after they jumped from a burning boat about a mile off the Malibu shore, Coast Guard officials said.

The Ventura County Fire Department responded to the incident around 7:20 a.m. Tuesday. When the fire ignited, two men and their dog were forced to jump from the vessel into the water.

In a statement, Coast Guard officials said a Good Samaritan picked up the victims after they jumped from their vessel and began treading water.

A Coast Guard crew arrived on scene and took the three to safety. No injuries were reported.

The 45-foot vessel was fully engulfed in flames until fire crews from Los Angeles and Ventura counties put the blaze out.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
