2.7-magnitude earthquake strikes near Carson

CARSON, Calif. (KABC) -- A 2.7-magnitude earthquake struck 2 miles northeast of Carson on Monday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake hit at about 11:48 p.m. and had a depth of about 7.3 miles. The epicenter was about 3 miles north southwest of Compton and 4 miles south of Willowbrook.

It was initially measured at a preliminary magnitude of 2.8, but was quickly downgraded.

Eyewitness News viewers reported feeling the shaking in Compton, Carson, Gardena, South Gate and Bellflower.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
