2nd victim found dead in Hacienda Heights home identified as 16-year-old boy

HACIENDA HEIGHTS, Calif. (KABC) -- The second of two victims found dead inside an Hacienda Heights home last month has been identified by coroner's officials as a 16-year-old boy.

The decomposing bodies of 84-year-old June Collins and Gavin Bustamante were found in a home in the 16600 block of Carriage Place on Oct. 7.

Collins was identified by authorities as the homeowner. Their bodies were found in two different rooms - both dead for several days.

Deputies made the discovery after responding to the home to conduct a welfare check because Collins hadn't been seen or heard from in days.

June Collins, 84, was found dead inside her home in the 16600 block of Carriage Place in Hacienda Heights on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015.

Coroner's officials said Collins died from sharp force injuries and Bustamante died from a stab wound. Investigators have ruled both their deaths as homicides and said the crime scene appeared to have been tampered with, as if someone tried to clean things up.

Anyone with information about this case was asked to contact the L.A. County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
