2 killed on New Year's Day in Whittier head-on collision

WHITTIER, Calif. (KABC) -- Two people died in a head-on car collision early Thursday morning in Whittier. It was unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

The incident occurred at about 1:30 a.m. near First Avenue and Candlelight Drive. A woman and a man were pronounced dead at the scene.

The California Highway Patrol was investigating. No other details were immediately available.
