SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. (KABC) -- A 2-year-old boy has become the third victim to die in an apartment fire that erupted in San Juan Capistrano.

The boy has been identified as Iker Liborio. His 3-year-old brother, Jaiden, and 20-year-old mother, Maricela Sanchez, also died of their injuries following the fire.

The blaze broke out Tuesday, Jan. 20 on the 26500 block of La Zanja Street.

Firefighters determined the fire was sparked by an unsupervised child playing with a lighter in the living room while other family members slept.

Officials said there were no smoke alarms in the four-bedroom unit, which was shared by 17 people.

Any O.C. residents who need smoke alarms can call the Orange County Fire Authority Smoke Alarm Program at (714) 573-6190.
