NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Los Angeles police were searching for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash in North Hollywood.

A white 2000 Toyota Tacoma struck and killed a female pedestrian at about 8:20 p.m. Friday at Saticoy Street and Lemp Avenue, police said.

According to investigators, the pedestrian was walking in an unmarked crosswalk on southbound Saticoy Street when she was hit. She died at the scene from her injuries.

The suspect's vehicle is believed to have a small dent on the brake light in the rear left panel.

The victim was identified as 57-year-old Melva Chapman.
