SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. (KABC) -- Several schools in San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano were ordered to shelter in place while deputies investigated a bomb threat.
The Orange County Sheriff's Department received an anonymous call around 1:30 p.m. regarding a possible threat of pipe bombs placed at local school sites.
All middle schools, high schools and some elementary schools were ordered to shelter in place while deputies checked the campuses. By about 3:20 p.m. all schools except for San Juan Hills and San Clemente high schools were cleared for release.
By about 4 p.m., remaining students told to shelter in place were released from school.
Parents were advised not to come to campus during the investigation. They will be notified when their children will be released.
Ambuehl Elementary students in Ms. Tatarian and Ms. Sullivan's classes returning from a field trip will need to be picked up at Saddleback Church Rancho Capistrano, 29251 Camino Capistrano in San Juan Capistrano.
