VICTORVILLE, Calif. (KABC) -- San Bernardino County firefighters rescued four puppies from a house fire in Victorville Saturday morning.

At 1 a.m., firefighters and four paramedic engine companies responded to the scene of a fire in the 16000 block of Allen Street.

The occupant of the residence who had escaped the flames said five puppies were trapped inside. Firefighters coordinated a search inside the home and were able to safely rescue four of the five puppies.

The fire was under control within 15 minutes. No injuries were reported.

The cause is under investigation. Fire officials said smoke detectors were not present in the home.
