HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The tragic death of a French bulldog puppy, known as Boggs the Dog, has inspired a viral campaign on Instagram.

Boggs was attacked by a much larger pit-bull mix while staying at Pooch Hotel in Hollywood, a board and care facility run by Petco. The beloved dog was severely injured and had to be euthanized.

Boggs' devastated owner has posted a number of pictures on Instagram tagged with #justiceforboggs.

The hashtag has since gone viral and has been used more than 1,400 times.

Petco says the incident happened during supervised play and that the dogs had interacted successfully before.

The company said it is deeply saddened by Boggs' tragic passing and that the incident remains under investigation.
