SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A woman suspected of driving away after running over a man in South Los Angeles has been arrested.

The crash occurred at about 5:20 p.m. Sunday near 43rd Street and Central Avenue. A witness called 911 shortly after.

Los Angeles police officers in the area located the suspect and attempted to pull her over, which led to a short pursuit. The driver of the white Audi ended up crashing into two parked cars near 51st Street and McKinley Avenue.

"The driver of the Audi failed to stop and fled the scene without rendering aide or calling for police," Los Angeles Police Det. Felix Padilla said.

The 24-year-old woman was driving under the influence of alcohol, Padilla said. She was taken to a hospital for head injuries.

The victim's condition was taken to a hospital for surgery. He was in grave condition, Padilla said.
