NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department bus carrying juvenile inmates was involved in a crash on the southbound 170 Freeway in North Hollywood on Monday.

The bus crashed into a vehicle near the Magnolia Boulevard exit around 6 a.m. The bus was carrying a total of seven juvenile inmates.

Four juvenile inmates and one sheriff's deputy suffered minor injuries in the accident. A second sheriff's bus was tailing the first bus, but it was not involved in the collision.

Traffic was snarled for miles, and morning commuters were advised to take alternate routes.

The crash blocked multiple southbound lanes on the 170 Freeway, but all lanes have since reopened.
